The First Block of the Month!

First Block of the Month

Here they are! The first of our Block of the Month ladies...didn't they do great work? Now they are rushing home to finish their second block...I'm sure that's what they're doing, right? Quilters don't leave things to the last minute, do they? Oh well, either way, I had a lot of fun this morning and I hope the girls did too. Stay tuned for the next installment.

Dog Days of Summer, are we there yet?

21 Aug 2008

So here we are. The end of another busy summer. We've been sewing up a storm! Janis is soon to be, quilting our sample of "Greetings from Canada". We are proud to be part of the first Canada wide shop hop....from our friends at Trend-Tex. This line of fabric is only available in Canada,  you don't hear that very often. So ladies and laddies, let's show our support for this first ever endeavour and maybe it will happen again! Visit a minimum of 5 stores and collect those points. Each point earns you a chance to win. Stop in for you passport soon! The action starts September 1st!!

Did I say 'soon to be quilting'? The sample is here! It arrive via motor cycle (our samples are way too 'cool' for cars) and is being bound as we type ! ? Ok, that's a fib, but I have the binding cut out....thank you Janis!

Don't Be So Frugal!

19 Jul 2008

Note to self....Change the blasted needle! If you were raised on the adage 'if it isn't broken, don't fix it' or in Peninsula lingo 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.....you must be re-educated. I know it's painful. I've been there. Heck, I'm still there (ask Janis). But I have become a firm believer that when I die my kids are not going to appreciate all those part packages of sewing machine needle that I been hording.

I'm at my machine everyday! Sometimes I only have enough time to sit and talk to it and pat it and tell it I miss it....everyone does that, right? But usually I sew for several hours each day. My new resolve is to CHANGE THE BLASTED NEEDLE......OFTEN. Needles are cheap, compared to a sewing machine. My Baby Lock cries when life is too hard on it. And sings beautifully when the needle is sharp.

NEEDLES ARE CHEAP! CHANGE THE NEEDLE! NEEDLES ARE CHEAP!

I can do this. Throw old needles in the garbage so you are not tempted to reuse.....this is going to hurt.....

Lavender

17 Jul 2008

What I love best about July is the lavender. Across the front of our store is lots and lots of lavender! You can't help but hum that little dittie...lavender fields foreverrrr...dadada.LavenderThere's also satelite dishes, and a busy highway, but all I see is the lavender (and a few weeds, but what the heck) For those of you who have yet to visit us, the pretty quilt, hides the Pepsi machine for this picture. Oh yes, there's also people behind the quilt, but you have to stop in to find out about that......

PS. OK. So I took creative license on a song that should be 'Strawberry Fields....' forgive me Paul McCartney.
