Peddle Faster!

12 Jul 2008

You know the saying, the faster I peddle, the slower I go?  Well, that's the way of the world for me these days...Thank Heavens for Ruthann and Norma and many understanding friends! What would the world be like without them?

A week on prednozone has cleared up the poison ivy adventure...my husband is still afraid of me. (teehee) AND the trees I was trying to cut down (in the poison ivy patch) are still there! That means, they won! Darn!

Kathyrn's reversable quilt class was a success, even though I had to run off to deliver Mom to the hospital...again. At this point, she's still there, living in a bed in emerg (because there are no other beds open, grrr) trying to control the pain and vomiting....Is that too much information, I'm sorry.

I'm excited about our Quilts Without Corner class. I'm working on sewing my demo strips together. We have a full class for Wednesday! WooHoo!

We've added a Raggy Jacket class for July 21. We still have room for 3 in that class. It's on a Monday. I'll try to upgrade the complete class asap.

I read the pictures!

27 Jun 2008

First I would like to thank Bethany Reynolds, for her books and patterns for Whack and Stack! Thank you!

We've had lots of fun in the past teaching from her books. No one minds buying a book for class, when there are so many ideas. Where's this going, you might ask? Well it's like this. As a left handed aquarian, I must confess, I read the pictures. My friend Marie can attest to this, she's also a left handed aquarian. Same problem. So imagine my surprize when I used Bethany's pattern (which includes the ruler) to make her version of Grandma's fan.  Each block should measure 8 inches? I don't think so. Oh (sigh), you wanted me to cut 7 inch strips. Oh. I believe bigger is better, so when ya' give me a 9 inch ruler, I cut 9 inch wedges. Ok, my 8 inch block has turned into a 12.5 inch. So the store sample will be giant....this is what you can do with Bethany Reynolds' nifty fan pattern and ruler.

A tool by any other name...

14 Jun 2008

Ok. It's been awhile. I apologize. The bigger, burning question in my mind is, DID YA' MISS ME? As you know sometimes life happens, and even though you are peddling as fast as you can, it's hard to stay current.

We have some very creative quilters. Their talents don't stop at quilting, either. Janis' woven star table runner class was held last week. Too bad you missed it......this wont be repeated until fall or winter or until we can bribe Janis into leaving her long arm studio to hang out with us. She is very busy. I told her if she wasn't so darned good, she'd have more spare time ( no business, but lots of spare time). I digress. Since that class happened, one of our creative minds, has come up with (are you ready?) T.I.T.'s.  That's short for Tube, Ironing, Turner.  So now if you have tubes to deal with, you can iron them and turn them right side out in one smooth motion. It's easy with this tool ( it should be called Koona's T.I.T.'s, but I think that might be too personal). The cost it $7.99. I don't know how we'll ship it, it's 4 feet long. I'm up for the challenge!

Happy Mothers Day!

11 May 2008

Spring at my house!

Happy Mother's Day! This is what greets us at the front door right now. Isn't life grand! I'm trying to figure out how to quilt it...maybe bargello? I'll have to talk to Judy K. the queen of bargello...she'll know. The kids (not goats) came home and surprized me today with supper and flowers. Nice! We've been enjoying asparagus and rubarb from the garden. Is it early? Oh yes, and I really, really, did see our own Wiarton Willie wondering around his outdoor enclosure last week...I guess he's not dead. I didn't see him at all last year. Someone really should plant some edible grasses in there for him. The weeds aren't very becoming or nutritious I would think....whoops, stay out of town politics....stop the brain and go back to your happy place....quilting.....fabric......food....still looking for a chili sauce recipe....

A Computer by any other name...

09 May 2008

What's in a name...  This morning my little computer has been known by several new names. Who am I kidding, this lovely machine has heard these names before. Sorry my store is still lacking. It seems that driver error ( that would be me) is sending my new items to someone elses store. Or, maybe cyber heaven. There really are pictures of Tulip Time, somewhere. Just not here, yet. Trust me, it's wonderful! Quilters, don't lie! Cuss, just a little, maybe. But not lie.

I think I'll get out my rotary cutter and take a slice off of this gizmo. Maybe that will help. I'ld feel much better. Maybe a hot steam iron will frighten this techno beast.....
